Nasir Gord – Afghan Immigrant Story in Canada

Nasir Gord is a Canada-based immigration professional whose work is deeply shaped by his own lived experience of migration. Having gone through multiple stages of displacement, education, and resettlement across different countries, he brings a practical and grounded perspective to the realities of immigration.

Nasir was born in Afghanistan into an educated family, but much of his early life was shaped by migration and instability. He pursued his higher education in Political Science in India, and later worked with international organizations including the United Nations, the European Union, and the German Embassy.

He was subsequently awarded a Fulbright scholarship to the United States, where he continued his academic journey while also navigating his pathway to Canada. After obtaining his Canadian permanent residency, he began rebuilding his professional life from the ground up, working in various roles, including the service industry, while also volunteering with immigrant-serving organizations.

Like many newcomers, Nasir faced challenges adapting to the Canadian job market, including understanding professional standards, licensing requirements, and the importance of local experience. These early struggles shaped his long-term approach and deepened his understanding of the immigrant journey.

Over time, he became actively involved in the settlement and immigration sector, working with organizations supporting newcomers and eventually entering the field professionally. In addition to his work in immigration, he also holds a real estate license in Canada; however, his primary focus remains on immigration services.

Nasir believes that immigration is not simply a process, but a life-changing experience. He approaches his work not only as a profession, but as a meaningful responsibility, helping individuals and families rebuild their lives and create new opportunities for the future.

Today, he works primarily with Afghan newcomers, offering guidance based on both professional expertise and personal understanding. He emphasizes that success in immigration requires patience, awareness of the system, and consistent effort over time.
