Immigrant Story in Canada: Fari Munjanja
Employment Counsellor - EPC
This is the real story of Josephine (Fari) Munjanja, an immigrant from Zimbabwe who rebuilt her life in Canada.
Before moving to Canada, Fari was a human resources director leading thousands of employees. But after arriving, she had to start over, taking her first job as a babysitter.
This documentary explores the reality of immigration: expectations, struggles, identity, and rebuilding a life from the ground up.
Filmed in Ontario, Canada.
Immigration Journey
Zimbabwe → Canada (1991) → Return → Canada (2002)
Zimbabwe → Toronto
Fari first came to Canada in 1991 as a student. After completing her studies, she returned to her home country and built a career in human resources.
Years later, due to economic challenges, she made the decision to come back to Canada — this time to start a new life.
When she arrived again in 2002, things were not easy.
Despite her experience in human resources, she was not able to find work in her field.
Like many newcomers, she had to start from the beginning.
Her first job in Canada was babysitting.
Over time, she went back to school, adapted, and changed direction.
Today, she works as an employment counsellor — helping others navigate the same challenges she once faced.
